A powerful editor and notepad replacement TotalEdit makes it easier to complete
your file editing and software development tasks.
TotalEdit is free for commercial and non-commercial purposes (its freeware).
TotalEdit delivers a broad range of features and tools and it can be configured
to work the way you want to.
Language-Specific Syntax Coloring, Fully customizable environment, file explorer, external
tool integration (E.g. Java, command line, Web browser) and a built-in
spell checker are just a handful of the features available in TotalEdit.
Changes with v4.3
- Bug fix: The look & feel was being reset back to the Win 2000 mode whenever a change was made to the General Settings More property page
- Bug fix: Add & remove option to manage the Windows Explore context menu item did not work
- Bug fix: When editing Unicode documents that contained symbol characters like Chinese TotalEdit did not present them properly. The document was not
affected but the presentation could contain phantom English characters

Important Upgrade Instructions

| Important Upgrade Instructions for v4.3
All previous versions of TotalEdit up to v4.2.1 do not remove the local application settings
data saved on your computer and these files can cause problems for TotalEdit v4.3. Use the
following instructions to ensure that your use of TotalEdit v4.3 is not affected by any previous
install.
Windows Vista:
- Begin by making sure that all hidden folders are visible.
In Control Panel open the Folder Settings application and select the View tab. Search
for the item "Show hidden files and folders" and select it. Now click OK to close the properties window
- In Windows Explorer search for the folder c:\users\[acct]\AppData\Local\CoderTools
- Now delete the subfolder labelled TotalEdit. Replace [acct] with the name of your account
Windows XP / 2003
- In Windows Explorer make sure that all hidden folders are visible. You can do this
by selecting Tools from the menu then Folder Options. Now select the View tab and
search for the item "Show hidden files and folders". Now press "Apply to All Folders" followed
by OK to close the properties window
- Search for the folder C:\Documents and Settings\[acct]\Local Settings\Application Data\CoderTools
- Now delete the subfolder labelled TotalEdit. Replace [acct] with the name of your account

| TotalEdit can now be installed onto a USB Memory key and
used across all your computers without installation. Once installed onto your desktop
computer all you need to do is copy TotalEdit's program files onto you USB memory key.
Now whenever you need to edit a file on a computer that doesn't
have TotalEdit installed; plug your USB memory key into the computer
and double-click on TEditStd.exe to start TotalEdit.
